Old Years Bash

On Thursday 30th December Garscube young athlete Alastair Stanley finished in 3rd place in Heat 1 of the 1500 metres at the Old Years Bash Track and Field Meeting at the Kelvin Hall Indoor Sports Arena in a time of 4 minutes 30.40 seconds.

SATURDAY 25TH DECEMBER

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Craig Brown turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k on Christmas Day finishing in 13th place in 22:36.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Three Garscube Harriers runners turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 18th December held on an off road course because of the weather. Cody Stevenson finished in 27th place in a time of 24:48, Craig Brown was 71st in 30:00 and Andrew Bell 100th in 40:52. 104 ran.

SATURDAY 4TH DECEMBER

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Garscube man Craig Brown finished in 37th place out of 138 competitors in a time of 24 minutes 55 seconds in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k on Saturday 4th December which was held over a changed off road course at Pollok Country Park due to the snow.

SATURDAY 27TH NOVEMBER

Hugh Wilson Memorial 10k Road Race

Garscube man Euan Mackay was the 1st male vet over 50 to finish the Hugh Wilson Memorial 10k Road Race at East Kilbride on Saturday 27th November in 7th place overall in a time of 37 minutes 14 seconds.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Garscube young athlete Andrew Bell finished in 107th place in a time of 32 minutes 27 seconds in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 27th November.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Six members of Garscube Harriers competed in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 20th November. Craig Brown finished in 21st place while setting a race PB of 19 minutes 37 seconds, Kenny Macanna came in 53rd in 21:03, Steve Wilson was 58th in 21:25, Jill O’Neil 64th in 21:33, Stevie Cullen 66th in 21:45 and Tariq Abdullah 122nd in 24:49. 269 runners completed the race.

SATURDAY 13TH NOVEMBER

Achilles Heel Jimmy Irvine 10k

Twelve members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the Achilles Heel Jimmy Irvine 10k which was held at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow on Saturday 13th November. Marco Consani was first home for the Club in 15th place in a time of 36:00 followed by Stevie Kilpatrick 62nd in 40:42, Craig Brown 82nd in 42:35 and Marian Kelly 88th in 42:53. Other Garscube performances were: 113th Jill O'Neil - 44:09, 141st Allan Wallace - 45:29, 152nd Stephen Wilson - 45:55, 160th Stevie Cullen - 46:25, 196th Tariq Abdullah - 48:16, 246th Jane Kerr - 50:48, 270th Jennifer Duru - 52:31 and 279th Kieran McLaughlin - 53:18. 376 finished.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Four members of Garscube Harriers turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 13th November. Chris Devine finished in 11th place in a time of 19 minutes 13 seconds, Lindsay Robertson was 121st in a race PB of 27 minutes 4 seconds, Dave Robertson finished in 123rd place in 27:06 and Andrew Bell was 178th in 30:36.

SUNDAY 7TH NOVEMBER

Lasswade AC Open 6 Miles Cross Country Race

On Sunday 7th November Euan Mackay finished in 28th place out of 94 competitors in Lasswade Athletic Club’s Open Senior Men’s 6 Miles Cross Country Race at Gorebridge, Midlothian in a time of 42:23.

Buchlyvie Half Marathon

Two Garscube men competed in the Buchlyvie Half Marathon on Sunday 7th November. Stevie Kilpatrick finished in 17th place in a time of 1 hour 29 minutes 38 seconds and Ian Grant came in 77th in 1:56:05. 102 finished.

SATURDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

KMPG Glasgow University 5 miles road race

Twenty eight members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the KMPG Glasgow University 5 Miles Road Race, incorporating the Clubs 5 Miles Road Race Championships and the Dunbartonshire AAA Road Race Championships, in the Garscube Estate on Saturday 6th November. First home for the Club to become the Senior Men’s 2010/2011 Club 5 Miles Champion and Dunbartonshire AAA Champion was Joe McKnight in 10th place overall in a time of 26 minutes 9 seconds. Gavyn Chalmers who finished in 21st position in 28:07 was the Dunbartonshire AAA U20 champion and Kirsty Husband who was 1st lady over 40 to finish the race in 42nd place overall in a time of 29:48 won the Senior Women’s Club Championship. Four Garscube members took part in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 6th November. Euan Mackay finished in 9th place in a time of 18:14 followed by James Stanley 66th in 21:53, Cody Stevenson 70th in 22:07 and Andrew Bell 203rd in 29:40.

Commerzbank Frankfurt Marathon

Garscube man Tony Hall finished in 5494th place in the Commerzbank Frankfurt Marathon on Sunday 31st October in a time of 3 hours 59 mniutes 17 seconds.

SATURDAY 30TH OCTOBER

Allan Scally Memorial Road Relays

Fourteen members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the Allan Scally Memorial Road Relays at Baillieston on Saturday 30th October. In the Men’s 4x4.75 miles relay the Garscube “A” Team of Joe McKnight who was timed at 25 minutes 43 seconds, Stephen Mulrine 27:25 Euan Geddes 29:00 and Chris Devine 30:18 finished in 12th place in a total time of 1 hour 52 minutes 26 seconds and the “B” Team of Jim McAneny 30:10, Kieran McLaughlin 40:31, Stevie Cullen 35:10 and Andy Griffiths 33:42 finished 25th in a total time of 2:19:33. The “A” Team of Lesley Chisholm 29:19, Gail Beaton 31:08 and Carole Setchell 31:16 were 5th team to complete the Women’s 3x4.75 miles relay in a total time of 1:31:43 and the ladies “B” Team of Isobel Martin 40:28 Natasha Mulrine 38:48 and Marian Kelly 33:31 were 14th in 1:52:47.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

In the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on 30th October Euan Mackay finished in 10th place in a time of 18:37 followed by Craig Brown 46th in 21:14, John Dryden 101st in 23:33 and Tariq Abdullah 120th in 24:40. 284 runners completed the race.

Scottish National Cross Country Relay Championships

Twenty eight members of Garscube Harriers turned out for the Scottish National Cross Country Relay Championships which were held at Cumbernauld on Saturday 23rd October. The ladies "A" Team of Kirsty Husband who was timed at 16 minutes 2 seconds, Lesley Chisholm 16:14 and Charlotte Wilson 17:00 finished in 10th place in a total time of 49 minutes 16 seconds in the Senior Women's 3x4,000 metres championships. The men's "B" team of Joe McKnight 14:00, Chris Devine 15:35, Euan Geddes 15:42 and Marco Consani 15:17 finished 31st in a total time of 1:00:34 and the men's vets "A" team of John Bell 14:33, Stephen Mulrine 14:57, Rob McLennan 15:57 and Euan Mackay 15:43 were the 5th vets team to finish in 36th place in a total of 1:01:10 in the Senior men's 4x4,000 metres relay.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Eight Garscube members were in action in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 23rd October. Craig Brown was first home for the Club in 41st place in a race PB of 21 minutes 10 seconds followed by Stephen Wilson 43rd in 21:25, Cody Stevenson 66th in 22:39 and Alasdair Mackay 73rd in a race PB of 23:04. Other Garscube results were: 80th Thomas Wilson - 23:19, 90th Rory Stevenson - 23:44, 92nd Tariq Abdullah - 23:54, and 224th Andrew Bell - 32:16. 255 finished.

SUNDAY 17TH OCTOBER

Aviemore Highland Half Marathon

Three Garscube men competed in the Aviemore Highland Half Marathon on Sunday 17th October. John Murray was first home for the Club in 35th place in a time of 1 hour 27 minutes 4 seconds, Stevie Kilpatrick achieved a PB when finishing in 42nd place in 1:28:11 and Robbie Drummond improved on last year's performance by some 11 minutes finishing in 157th position in at PB of 1:39:45 which was an improvement of more than 3 minutes on his previous PB in the GSR Half marathon. 995 runners completed the race.

Amsterdam Marathon, Half Marathon and 8k

Five members of Garscube Harriers travelled to the Netherlands to take part in various races being held in Amsterdam on Sunday 17th October. In the Marathon Alan Blair finished in in 667th place out of 7887 competitors in a time of 3 hours 9 minutes 46 seconds and Allan Wallace completed the race in 2802nd position in 3:43:50 while in the Half Marathon Emma Raston was 2779th from 10447 runners in 1:45:48.

In an 8k race at the same venue Robert Cuthbertson finished in 683rd place in 42 minutes 7 seconds and Karen McIlvenna 1313rd in 46:13 with 2784 runners completing the race.


SATURDAY 16TH OCTOBER

Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Relay Championships

Garscube Harriers had a successful day at the Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Relay Championships which were held in the Duchess Woods, Helensburgh on Saturday 16th October. The Men’s “A” Team of Ben Melby who was timed at 13 minutes 48 seconds, Joe McKnight 13:42, Euan Geddes 15:31 and John Bell 14:04 won the Senior Men’s 4x4000 metres championship in a total time of 57 minutes 5 seconds and Joe and John won the medals for fastest Senior and fastest Veteran respectively. The Women’s “A” Team of Mairi Stanley 16:23, Gail Beaton 17:32 and Carole Setchell 17:19 won the Senior Women’s 3x4000 metres championship in a total time of 51 minutes 14 seconds. Mairi was the fastest Veteran in the women’s race.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Five Garscube Harriers members turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 16th October. Dave Robertson finished in 2nd place in a time of 17 minutes 43 seconds, Stephen Wilson was 54th in 21:35, Cody Stevenson 77th in 22:54, Rory Stevenson 149th in 26:04 and Andrew Bell 228th in 31:19. 264 runners completed the race.

SATURDAY 9TH OCTOBER

Scottish Athletics West District Cross Country Relay Championships

The Garscube Harriers Team of Mairi Stanley timed at 17 minutes 14 seconds, Heather McIntosh 18:40 and Gail Beaton whose time was 17:44 won the Gold Medals for the Women’s Masters Championships in a total time of 53 minutes 58 seconds at the Scottish Athletics West District Cross Country Relay Championships at Rouken Glen Park, Giffnock on Saturday 9th October. Other Garscube results in the Women’s 3x4,000 metres relays were:

Garscube Harriers also enjoyed medal success in the Men’s 4x4,000 metres relay with the team of John Bell timed at 14:26, Euan Mackay 15:46, Rob McLennan 16:23 and Stephen Mulrine 15:20 winning the silver medals for 2nd place in the Men’s Masters Championships with a total time of 1:01:55. In the Young Males 3x2,500 relay the Garscube “A” Team of Ruaridh Russell 11:34, Adam Duff 10:49 and Cameron Russell 11:26 finished in 38th place in a total time of 33:49 while the “B” Team of Calum Esler 12:07, John Brachney 12:45 and Patrick Brachney 12:22 were 46th in a total time of 37:14. Euan McIntosh was timed at 13:45 in an incomplete “C” Team.
In the Young Females relay over the same distance the “A” Team of Caitlin Trotter 12:01, Catriona Booth 11:09 and Shona Parratt 10:37 finished in 9th place in a total time of 33 minutes 47 seconds and Amy Drydsale was timed at 11:48 in an incomplete “B” Team.

Six Garscube members were in action in the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday 3rd October. Ben Melby was first home for the Club in 9th place in a time of 2 hours 33 minutes 2 seconds followed by Campbell Roxburgh 135th in 3:14:49 and Jeff Proctor 456th in 3:38:32. Other Garscube results were: 857th Tariq Abdullah - 3:56:12, 918th Irene Vezza - 3:57:56 and 1240th Ann Boal - 4:12:23.

Baxters River Ness 10k

Two Garscube members were in action in the Baxters River Ness 10k at Queens Park Stadium, Inverness on Sunday 3rd October. Stevie Kilpatrick set a PB of 39 minutes 14 seconds when finishing in 85th place and Sharon Law was 311th in 45:08.

St Andrew's Hospice 10k Road Race

Garscube young athlete Alastair Stanley finished in 7th place in the St Andrew's Hospice 10k Road Race at Strathclyde Park, Motherwell on Sunday 3rd October in a time of 36 minutes 30 seconds.

Causeway Coast Half Marathon

Andy Griffiths finished in 59th place out of 226 runners in a time of 2:00:17 in the Causeway Coast Half Marathon from Larrybane Head to Portballintrae in Northern Ireland on Saturday 2nd October. Andy described the race as held over a very hilly and scenic course, run over beaches, rocky shores, the coastal path around the Giant's Causeway and in places through the sea!

Garscube man Stephen Mulrine finished in 28th place (7th M40) in the Einstein Marathon at Ulm, Germany on Sunday 19th September in a time of in 2 hours 57 minutes 10 seconds.

City of Stirling 10k Road Race

Twelve Garscube Harriers members were in action in the City of Stirling 10k Road Race on Sunday 19th September. Joe McKnight finished in 29th place in a time of 33 minutes 38 seconds followed by John Bell 39th in 34:22, Gavyn Chalmers 60th and Alastair Stanley 61st both timed at 35:40 and Euan Mackay 67th in 36:03. Kirsty Husband in 83rd place overall in a time of 37:03 was 3rd lady vet over 35 to finish. Other Garscube results were: 95th Lesley Chisholm - 37:27, 117th John Murray - 38:22, 134th Charlotte Wilson - 39:03, 146th Mairi Stanley - 39:26, 149th Ali Winship 39:32 and 219th Kenny Macanna - 42:07.

Great North Run

Four Garscube Harriers members were in action in the Great North Run half marathon race from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday 19th September. Lesley Chapman was 3rd female vet over 55 in 1368th position overall in a time of 1 hour 35 minutes 38 seconds, Martin Walker was 6211st and Anna Walker 6212nd both being timed at 1:50:19 and Gary Whalen was 23037th in 2:19:19.

SATURDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER

The River Ayr Way Challenge and Montane Scottish Ultra Marathon Series 2010 Championships

Four Garscube Harriers members completed the River Ayr Way Challenge, a 41 Miles Ultra distance race from Glenbuck to Ayr, on Saturday 18th September. Sharon Law was 2nd lady to finish in 15th place overall in a time of 6 hours 15 seconds 34 seconds, Debbie Consani was 3rd lady in 22nd position in 6:25:27, Karen McIlvenna 8th lady in 45th place in 7:36:29 and Ian Grant finished 71st in 8:54:35. This race was the last in the Montane Scottish Ultra Marathon Series 2010 Championships in which Garscube man Marco Consani was 3rd male with 1939 points, Sharon Law was 2nd female with 1746 points and Debbie Consani was 1st female vet with 1617 points.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Seven Garscube members competed in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k on Saturday 18th September. James Stanley was first home for the Club in 51st place in a race PB of 21 minutes 10 seconds followed by Cody Stevenson 63rd in 21:49 (race PB), Thomas Wilson 64th in 21:55 (race PB), Stephen Wilson 74th in 22:26, Rory Stevenson 81st in 22:59 (race PB), Emma Wilson 166th in 27:44 (race PB) and Andrew Bell 202nd in 29:17. 258 finished.

Around Cumbrae 10 Miles Road Race

Fifteen members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the Around Cumbrae 10 Miles Road Race on Sunday 12th September. David Dickson was first to finish in 18th place in a time of 1 hour 3 minutes 53 seconds followed by Alan Blair 22nd in 1:05:16 and Rob McLennan 23rd in 1:05:20. Four Garscube Harriers members turned out for the Great Scottish Run 10k race on Sunday 5th September. Young athlete Alastair Stanley was first home for the club in 22nd place in a time of 36 minutes 35 seconds followed by Kirsty Husband (5th lady) in 37th place in 37:38, Paul Bassett 474th in 46:22 and Maureen O'Hara 1786th in 54:26.

Seven Garscube Harriers members turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 4th September. Young athlete Gavyn Chalmers at his first attempt at this race ran well to finish in 4th place in a time of 17 minutes 56 seconds, Euan Mackay was 8th in 18:20 and Lesley Chisholm was first lady home in 9th place overall in a race PB of 18:38. Other Garscube results were: 60th Cody Stevenson - 23:21, 76th Rory Stevenson - 24:13, 92nd Stuart Irvine - 26:07 and 140th Andrew Bell - 31:50. 157 competitors completed the race.

Great Scottish Run Junior 3k race

Six Garscube Harriers members took part in the Great Scottish Run Junior 3k race on Saturday 4th September. James Stanley was first home for the Club in 128th place in time of 12 minutes 37 seconds followed by Francis Malarkey 274th in 14:10, Cameron Reid 284th in 14:18, Emily Cleer 332nd in 14:39, Adam Stanley 398th in 15:12 and Daniel Dey 400th in 15:13.

Nine Garscube members turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 28th August. Young athlete Alastair Stanley was first home for the Club in 5th place in a time of 17 minutes 31 seconds followed by Kirsty Husband 1st lady to finish in 20th place in 18:46, Paul Consani who was 22nd in 18:52 and Mairi Stanley 28th in 19:52. Three Garscube members completed the 43 Miles Devil o' the Highlands 43 miles race along the West Highland Way from Tyndrum to Fort William on Saturday 7th August. Marco Consani finished in 4th place in 6 hours 14 minutes 25 seconds, Sharon Law was first lady vet and 2nd lady to finish in 14th place in 7 hours 6 minutes 54 seconds and Debbie Consani was 3rd lady in 19th place in 7 hours 23 minutes 23 seconds.

Tour of Clydeside Bellahouston Belter

Six Garscube Harriers members competed in the final race of the 2010 Tour of Clydeside Series of Races, the Bellahouston Belter 10k Road Race in Pollok Country Park on Friday 6th August. Euan Mackay finshed in 12th place in a time of 37 minutes 33 seconds, Gail Beaton was 4th lady to complete the race in 31st place in 41:04, Steve Wilson was 56th in 45:31, Tony Hall 60th in 45:55, Mark Turnbull 81st in 49:18 and Kieran McLaughlin 91st in 52:37. Mark competed in all four of the Tour of Clydeside race series and was 26th in the series in a total time of 2 hours 31 minutes 44 seconds.

Babcock Helensburgh Half Marathon

Garscube man Ben Melby became the Scottish Athletics West District 2010 Half Marathon Champion when winning the Babcock Helensburgh Half Marathon on Sunday 1st August in a time of 1 hour 12 minutes 6 seconds - more than 3 minutes ahead of the 2nd placed runner. Stephen Mulrine was 2nd man home for the Club and 3rd Male Vet in the West District Half Marathon Championships finishing in 9th place overall in a time of 1:19:18. Two Garscube Harriers members competed in the Turnhouse Hill Race - distance 3 miles climb 1,100 feet - at Flotterstone on Wednesday 28th July. David Dickson finished in 22nd place in a time of 30:16 and Stephani Keane was 86th in 44:59.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Ten members of Garscube Harriers turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 24th July. Stephen Mulrine won the race in time of 17 minutes 19 seconds, Alastair Stanley finished in 3rd place in a time of 17 minutes 42 seconds, Catriona Graves was first female home in a race PB of 20:17 and Mairi Stanley was 2nd female runner to finish in 20:18. Round Arran Relay

Garscube Harriers entered two teams in the Round Arran Relay which was also held on 24th July. The race is run in two sections – North and South – with each section starting in Blackwaterfoot and finishing in Brodick and the times added up at the end to determine the team position. The Men’s team of Rob McLennan whose time of the North 1st leg was 1:17:10, Chris Devine – North 2 – 1:14:16, Joe McKnight – North 3 – 59:52, Athole Smith – South 1 – 48:50, Ben Melby – South 2 – 49:36 and John Murray – South 3 - 56:50 finished in 3rd place in total time of 6 hours 6 minutes and 34 seconds. The Ladies’ team of Jill O’Neil – North 1 – 1:26:25, Gail Beaton – North 2 – 1:15:25, Lesley Chisholm – North 3 - 1:05:21, Marian Kelly – South 1 - 52:43, Heather McIntosh – South 2 – 1:09:03 and Lesley Chapman – South 3 – 1:00:00 were 2nd Ladies Team in 6 hours 48 minutes 57 seconds. Emma Ralston was timed at 1:31:38 on North Stage 2 and Sara Montgomery at 1:28:56 on South Stage 3 in a composite team with Inverclyde Tri Club.

Clyde Stride 40 Miles Ultra Marathon

Congratulations to the two members of Garscube Harriers who completed the Clyde Stride 40 Miles Ultra Marathon along the River Clyde from Partick to Bonnington Linn near New Lanark. Sharon Law was 3rd lady vet to finish in 14th place overall in a time of 6:00:16 and Ian Grant finished in 53rd position in a time of 7:49:19.

Ripon Triathlon

Garscube man Tony Messenger finished in 262nd place in the Ripon Triathlon at Ripon Racecourse on Saturday 10th July in a total time of 2 hours 43 minutes 16 seconds. The race consisted of a 1.5k swim, a 44k bike ride and and 10k run and Tony's times were 27:33 swim, 01:28:00 bike ride and 43:42 run. 655 competitors finished the race.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Six Garscube members were in action in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 10th July and three of them set race PBs. Tony Hall was first home for the Club in 59th place in a time of 21 minutes 55 seconds followed by Craig Brown in 66th place in 22:32 (race PB), Dermot Williamson 84th in 23:30 (race PB), Gordon Shannon 95th in 24:11 (race PB), and Lindsay and Dave Robertson in 174th and 175th place respectively both timed at 28:35. 245 finished.

Garscube man Yohan Thorez won the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 19th June setting a race PB of 16 minutes 26 seconds in the process. Eight other members of the Club took part. Chris Devine finished in 4th place in a race PB of 18:12, Stephen Wilson was 45th in a race PB of 21:15 and young athlete Rory Stevenson also set a race PB when finishing in 68th place in 23:00. Garscube man Tariq Abdullah set a PB of 21 minutes 43 seconds in the Glasgow East 5k Fun Run at Tollcross Park, Glasgow on Sunday 13th June.

Dunfermline Half Marathon

Ali Winship finished in 69th position in a time of 1 hour 28 minutes 37 seconds in the SignPlus Dunfermline Half Marathon on Sunday 13th June.

Polaroid Eyewear Loch Lomond 5k Fun Run

Garscube Harrriers young athlete Darren McGowan was the first junior male to finish in 9th place overall in the Polaroid Eyewear Loch Lomond 5k Fun Run at Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch on Sunday 13th June in a time of 23 minutes 24 seconds.

Ruby Young Memorial Women's 5k race

Carol Setchell finished in 2nd place in a time of 19 minutes 50 seconds in the Ruby Young Memorial Women's 5k race at Dean Country Park, Kilmarnock on Sunday 13th June.

Polaroid Eyewear Vale of Leven 10k Road Race

Twenty eight members of Garscube Harriers turned out for the final race of the 2010 Polaroid Eyewear Series of Races, the Vale of Leven 10k on Sunday 13th June 2010. The Garscube ladies team of Lesley Chisholm 4th lady to finish in a time of 39 minutes 25 seconds, Charlotte Wilson 7th lady in 41:09 and Laura Devine 8th lady in 41:23 won the first Women's Team Prize with a total of 19 points. Ben Melby was first home for the Club in 6th place in a time of 33:34 followed by Euan Mackay 35th in 37:48 and Alan Blair 42nd in 38:18. Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Six members of Garscube Harriers completed the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 12th June. Dave Robertson won the race at his first attempt in a time of 17 minutes 36 seconds after fellow club member Yohan Thorez was disqualified for going off the course. Other Garscube results were: 8th Chris Devine - 18:44, 64th Cody Stevenson - 22:35 Race PB, 113th Bryan Donaldson - 25:17, 190th Andrew Bell - 28:42 and 195th Rory Stevenson - 28:54.

Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games 10k Road Race

Five members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games 10k Road Race at Burnbrae, Milngavie on Saturday 12th June. Carole Setchell was first lady home in 9th place overall in a time of 42 minutes 26 seconds followed by Davie Geddes 31st in 48:24, Tariq Abdullah 46th in 52:24, Ian Grant 49th in 53:11 and Dermot Williamson 67th in 57:40.

Kelvin 5k

Natasha Mulrine was 2nd lady to finish the Kelvin 5k at Kelvingrove Park on Saturday 12th June in 13th place overall setting a PB of 23 minutes 14 seconds in the process.

FRIDAY 11TH AND SATURDAY 12TH JUNE

Scottish Schools Track and Field Championships

Garscube youth athlete Alastair Stanley competing for the High School of Glasgow entered for 3 events in the Scottish Schools Track and Field Championships which were held at Grangemouth Stadium on 11th and 12th June. On the Friday Alastair finished in 3rd place in the final of the 14-15 year old boys 800 metres race in a time of 2 minutes 12.26 seconds while on the Saturday he was 2nd in the 1500 metres final in 4 minutes 16.96 seconds and 5th in the Triple Jump with 10.80 metres.

Cort-ma Law 6 mile hill race

David Dickson was 4th male vet over 50 to finish in 27th place overall in a time of 59:14 in the Cort-ma Law 6 mile hill race at the Crow Road, Lennoxtown on Wednesday 9th June.

Greaves Sports 10k Road Race

Two Garscube men were in action in the Greaves Sports 10k Road Race at Rouken Glen Park, Giffnock on Sunday 6th June. Tony Hall finished in 91st place in a time of 45:45 and Tariq Abdullan was 182nd in 50:22.

SATURDAY 5TH JUNE

Glasgow Parkrun 5k race

Four members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 5th June. Young athlete Catriona Graves was the first female runner to finish in 37th place overall in a new race PB of 20 minutes 46 seconds followed by Tariq Abdullah 94th in 23:17, Cody Stevenson 107th in 23:51 and Rory Stevenson 130th in 25:22.

Loch Lochy Munros Hill Race

David Dickson was 2nd male vet over 50 to finish in 17th place overall in the Loch Lochy Munros Hill Race (13 miles, 4350 feet climb) at Achnacarry on Saturday 5th June in a time of 3 hours 1 minute 13 seconds.

Forty members of Garscube Harriers contested the Polaroid Eyewear Dumbarton 10k Road Race on Thursday 3rd June which incorporated the Club's 10,000 metres road championships. Scottish Half Marathon

Two Garscube Harriers members were in action in the Scottish Half Marathon at Edinburgh on Sunday 23rd May. Ken Hastie finished in 52nd place out of the field of 3,737 runners in a time of 1 hour 24 minutes 35 seconds and Jennifer Duru finished in 1,349th position in a time of 1:55:50.

Two Garscube young athletes competed in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 22nd May. Cody Stevenson finished in 96th place in 23:27 and Andew Bell was timed at 30:09 when finished in 224th place.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Eight members of Garscube Harriers ran in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k on Saturday 15th May. Young athlete Alastair Stanley set a new race PB of 17:20 when finishing in 4th place, Euan Mackay finished in 8th position in 17:50 followed by Stevie Kilpatrick 27th in a new race PB of 19:03 and Stephen Wilson 82nd in 21:28 also a race PB. Other Garscube results were: 149th Cody Stevenson – 23:56, 182nd Craig Weston – 25:12 (race PB), 257th Andrew Bell – 29:08 and 288th Mairi Stanley – 30:42 running with her son Adam who recorded the same time.

Loch Leven Half Marathon

Moira Young finished in 151st place in a time of 1:39:53 and Tony Hall in 163rd position in 1:41:21 in the Loch Leven Half Marathon at Kinross.

Tony Hall was 84th in the Penicuik Harriers 10k road race in 46:05.

Strathclyde Parkrun 5k

Andy Griffiths finished in 13th position in a time of 20:39 and Stuart Irvine was 42nd in 26:08 in the Strathclyde Parkrun 5k in Strathclyde Country Park.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Garscube Harriers young athletes Cody Stevenson and Andrew Bell finished in 118th place in 24:49 and 180th place in 28:45 respectively in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park with Andrew setting a new race PB.

Dick Wedlock Memorial 10k

Six members of Garscube Harriers took part in the Dick Wedlock Memorial 10k Strathclyde Fire and Rescue 2010 race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 8th May. Ali Winship was first lady and first Garscube member to finish in 23rd place overall in a time of 40 minutes 15 seconds followed by Kenny Macanna who was 1st M55 in 42nd place in 42:51 and Marian Kelly 45th in 43:08. Other Garscube results were: 61st Craig Marsden - 46:03, 69th Stevie Cullen - 47:00 and 80th Stephani Keane who achieved a PB of 49:36. 113 finished.

Troon 10k

Three Garscube members turned out for the Troon 10k Road Race. Lesley Chisholm was 1st lady to finish the race in a time of 37 minutes 49 seconds, Ali Winship was 5th lady to complete the race in 39:14 and Tony Hall was 2nd Male Vet over 60 in 43:58.

Inter District 10k Women's Road Race

Ali Winship finished in 15th place in a time of 41 minutes 35 seconds in the Inter District 10k Women's Road Race Championships which were incorporated into the BUPA Great Edinburgh Run.

Stuc a Chroin Hill Race

David Dickson finished in 69th place in a time of 3:12:07 in the Stuc a Chroin 14 miles hill race at Strathyre.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Six Garscube members competed in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park. Stevie Kilpatrick finished in 25th place in a time of 19:41, Marian Kelly was 3rd lady to finish in 20:53 and young athlete Catriona Graves finished in 46th place overall in 21:07. Other Garscube results were 73rd Tony Hall in a race PB of 22:17, 111st Cody Stevenson – 24:12 and 217th Andrew Bell setting a race PB of 28:57.

Whangie Whizz

David Dickson was 3rd male vet over 50 to finish in the Whangie Whizz 4 mile race at the Queens View in 32nd place in a time of 34 minutes 12 seconds.

Dunren Open Graded

Two Garscube men were in action at the Dunren Open Graded Meeting at Linwood Sports Complex. Yohan Thorez finished in 3rd place in a time of 9 minutes 27.46 seconds in the 3000 Metres race and Stevie Cullen was 8th in 2 minutes 48.93 seconds in the 3rd Heat of the 800 Metres.

SUNDAY 25TH APRIL

London Marathon

Congratulation to the eight Garscube Harriers members who completed the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April. Euan Geddes ran well to finish in a time of 2 hours 54 minutes 8 seconds followed by Athole Smith in 3:05:52, Charlotte Wilson in 3:11:13, Jill O’Neil in 3:31:04, Emma Ralston in 4:03:10, Sheina Gilmour in 4:16:23, Raghbir Singh in 4:39:46 and Isobel Martin in 4:43:26.

Balfron 10k

Two records were set by members of Garscube Harriers in the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k. Firstly Ben Melby set a new course record when winning the race in a time of 33 minutes 4 seconds then Kirsty Husband broke the women's course record, finishing in 12th place with a time of 38 minutes 20 seconds. The performances of the other Garscube runners taking part were:

Ormidale 10k

Ali Winship was second lady to finish in 11th place overall in the Ormidale 10k Road Race at Brodick, Isle of Arran in a time of 40 minutes 19 seconds.

Rotary Shakespeare Marathon

Garscube man John Murray finished in 118 th place in the Rotary Shakespeare Marathon at Stratford upon Avon on Sunday 25th April in a time of 3 hours 29 minutes 13 seconds.

SATURDAY 24TH APRIL

Montane Highland Fling

Congratulations to the five Garscube Harriers members who completed the Montane Highland Fling Ultra Distance 53 miles race along the West Highland Way between Milngavie and Tyndrum. Marco Consani finished in 3rd place in a time of 8 hours 23 minutes 19 seconds followed by Sharon Law 2nd lady to complete the race in 9:41:52, Debbie Martin-Consani 3rd lady in 9:49:36, Karen McIlvenna 30th lady in 11:52:55 and Rachel Stevenson 38th lady in 12:41:17. Sharon, Debbie and Karen were the winning Ladies Team with an aggregate time of 31 hours 24 minutes 23 seconds.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Garscube man Yohan Thorez finished in 2nd place in a time of 16 minutes 35 seconds in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park. Other Garscube members taking part were Stephani Keane who set a new race PB when finishing in 117th place in a time of 24:34 and young athletes Thomas Wilson who was 122nd in 24:46, Catriona Robertson 170th in 26:50 and Andrew Bell setting a new race PB of 29:20 when finishing in 210th position.

Strathclyde Parkrun 5k

Garscube member Andy Griffiths set a new race PB when finishing in 14th place in a time of 20 minutes 10 seconds in the Strathclyde Parkrun 5k in Strathclyde Country Park.

David Dickson finished in 16th position and 4th male vet over 50 in a time of 36 minutes 6 seconds in the Advertsign Direct Kaim Hill 3½ Miles Race at Fairlie, Ayrshire.

Toby Messenger travelled to the USA to compete in the Boston Marathon and finished the race in a time of 3 hours 37 minutes 26 seconds.

Four Garscube Harriers runners competed in the Chris Hoy Edinburgh Half Marathon. Allan Wallace was 1st home for the Club in 107th place in a time of 1:27:48, Rhona Siegmeth was 6th lady vet over 50 in 1:44:43, Robbie Drummond was timed at 1:45:56 and Tricia Roxburgh at 1:50:42.

Deafblind Scotland 10k Canal Race

Three Garscube members turned out for the Deafblind Scotland 10k Canal Race at Bishopbriggs. Lesley Chisholm was first lady to finish and 4th overall in a time of 39:35 followed by Ali Winship 2nd lady to complete the race in 41:24 and Tony Hall who finished in 39th place in a time of 48:01.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Seven members of Garscube Harriers completed the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park. Euan Mackay finished in 17th place setting a new race PB of 17 minutes 45 seconds, Alan Blair come in 30th also setting a race PB of 18:56. Laura Devine was 3rd lady to finish in a race PB of 20:14 and Maureen O'Hara competing in the race for the first time finished in 117th position in 22:50. Other Garscube performances were: 178th Cody Stevenson - 25:47, 198th Jennifer Duru - 26:40 and 292nd Andrew Bell - 31:21. 368 runners finished the race, the highest number of competitors since the race started in 2008.

Tony Hall finished in 144th position in a time of 1 hour 17 minutes 33 seconds in the Tom Scott 10 Miles Memorial Road Race at Strathclyde Park, Motherwell.

Chris Kilshaw finished in 93rd place in a time of 1 hour 49 minutes 13 seconds in the Heaven & Hell Half Marathon at Scone Airport, Perth.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Alan Blair finished in 20th place in a time of 19:43 in the Glasow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park.

Scottish National Road Relay Championships

Twenty one members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the Scottish National Road Relay Championships at Livingston. In the Men’s 6 Stage Relay of alternate 3.15 miles and 5.85 miles laps the Garscube “A” Team of Stephen Mulrine timed at 17 minutes 55 seconds, Ben Melby – 30:46, Kenny Hastie – 18:43, Joe McKnight – 31:39, Gary Goldie – 18:50, and Euan Mackay – 35:09 finished in 9th place in a total time of 2 hours 33 minutes and 2 seconds, the “B” Team of Jim McAneny – 19:18, Athole Smith – 36:15, Rob McLennan – 19:23, Davie Geddes – 42:58, Andy Griffiths – 23:13 and Allan Wallace – 38:04 came in 42nd in a total of 2 hours 59 minutes 11 seconds and in an incomplete “C” Team Stevie Cullen was timed at 22:32 and Kenny Macanna at 41:26. The Ladies team of Lesley Chisholm timed at 19:21, Kirsty Husband – 35:58, Charlotte Wilson – 19:44 and Ali Winship – 38:18 finshed in 6th place in a total time of 1 hour 53 minutes 21 seconds in the Women’s 4 Stage Relay over the same course and in an incomplete “B” Team Jill O’Neil was timed at 22:43, Carole Gilmour at 38:26 and Laura Devine at 20:40.

SUNDAY 28TH MARCH

Round the Houses 10k

Euan Mackay was 5th Male Vet over 50 in a time of 37:22 and Tony Hall 2nd Male Vet over 60 in a time of 45:36 in the Round the Houses 10k Road Race at Grangemouth on Sunday 28th March.

Liverpool Half Marathon

Andy Griffiths competed in the Liverpool Half Marathon on 28th March last year finishing in 484th place in a time of 1 hour 38 minutes 7 seconds. The start of the race described by Andy as "very messy" was delayed due to a record entry.

SATURDAY 27TH MARCH

Nigel Barge 10k Road Race

Six Garscube runners turned out for the Nigel Barge 10k Road Race which was held on Saturday 27th March having been rescheduled from January due to adverse weather conditions. Tony Hall finished in 73rd place in a time of 46:14, Chris Kilshaw was 75th in 46:16 and Stevie Cullen 92nd in 48:33. Other Garscube results were 127th Stephani Keane – 52:28 and 137th Margaret O’Hara – 54:22. 160 runners finished. Joe McKnight was disqualified for going off the course on the second lap.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Four Garscube members competed in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k. Lesley Chisholm was 1st lady to finish in a new PB for the race of 19:09, Laura Devine also set a new race PB of 20:37 as 2nd lady to complete the race and young athletes Cody Stevenson and Andrew Bell finished 106th in 24:30 and 212th in 30:05 respectively.

Alloa Half Marathon

Garscube man Tony Hall was 8th Male vet over 60 to finish the Alloa Half Marathon in a time of 1 hour 40 minutes 56 seconds.

Scottish Young Athletes Road Race Championships

Three Garscube Harriers members were in action in the Scottish Young Athletes Road Race Championships at Rouken Glen Park. Alastair Stanley finished in 5th place in a time of 11 minutes 51 seconds in the Under 15 Boys 3700 metres race, Gavyn Chalmers was 28th in 18:07 in the Under 17 Men 5000 metres championship and Caitlin Trotter finished in 69th position in 11:46 in the Under 13 Girls 2500 metres race.

SATURDAY 20TH MARCH

Clydesdale Harriers 5k

Nine members of Garscube Harriers turned out for the Clydesdale Harriers 5k Road Race at the Playdrome, Clydebank. Euan Mackay was first home for the Club and 4th male Vet over 50 inn 31st place in a time of 18 minutes 3 seconds, Kirsty Husband was 1st lady to finish in 18:09, Lesley Chisholm was 2nd lady home in 18:53 followed by Charlotte Wilson 9th lady and 49th overall in 19:22. Other Garscube results were: 57th Carole Setchell - 19:49, 78th Tony Hall - 22:12, 79th Anna MacGregor - 22:24, 81st Stevie Cullen - 22:40 and 82nd Maureen O'Hara - 22:45. Kirsty, Lesley and Charlotte were the first ladies team to complete the race with a total of 124 points.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Three Garscube Harriers Senior Members and three Young Athletes were in action in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 20th March. For the Seniors Ken Hastie was first home in 7th position in a time of 18 minutes 11 seconds, Euan Mackay finished in 16th place in a time of 18:40 and Tony Hall set a new race PB of 22:20 in 64th place. Young Athletes Cody Stevenson and Thomas Wilson both set PBs for the race. Cody finishing in 88th place in a time of 23 minutes 27 seconds and Thomas in 107th place in 24:41. The 3rd Garscube boy in the race was Andrew Bell who was 194th in 30:51.

SUNDAY 14TH MARCH

Gartmorn 6

Three Garscube Harriers members competed in the Gartmorn Multi Terrain races at Sauchie, Clackmannanshire. Tony Hall finished in 43rd place in a time of 44 minutes 51 seconds in the Senior 6 Miles race while in the Junior 2 miles race Darren McGowan was first under 13 boy to complete the race in a time of 15 minutes 21 seconds and Rebecca McGowan was 18th under 13 girl in 21:25.

Three Garscube runners turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k on Saturday 13th March. Euan Mackay finished in 12th place in a time of 18:13, Andy Griffiths was 57th in a PB for the race of 21:26 and Andrew Bell finished in 238th position in a time of 31:20.

Tony Hall was in action in the Lasswade Athletic Club’s 10 Mile Road Race at Rosewell, Midlothian finishing in 163rd place in a time of 1:17:27 on Sunday 7th March.

King's Buildings 5

Charlotte Wilson was 9th lady to complete the King’s Buildings 5 Miles Road Race at King’s Buildings, Edinburgh in a time of 31:50 on Saturday 6th March.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Four Garscube young athletes competed in the weekly Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 6th March. James Stanley finished in 52nd place in a PB for the race of 21:36, Craig Weston was 134th in 25:14 also a PB for the race, Cody Stevenson was 158th in 25:52 and Andrew Bell was 223rd in 30:09.

McCaa Cup

Eight members of Garscube Harriers turned out for the McCaa Cup 6 Miles Cross Country Handicap Race at Mugdock Country Park on Saturday 6th March. The handicap was won by Anna MacGregor in a time of 48 minutes 58 seconds with a handicap of 14 minutes 30 seconds off scratch man John Bell who recorded the fastest time of the day of 36 minutes 55 seconds. Other times were: Euan Mackay – 38:28, Athole Smith – 39:46, Ali Winship – 41:29, Marian Kelly – 44:39, Stevie Cullen – 48:14 and Tony Hall – 49:55.

Garscube young athlete Andrew Bell was in action in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 27th February finishing in 172nd place in a time of 31minutes 23 seconds.

The final meeting of the 2009/2010 Garscube Harriers Schools Cross Country League was held in the snow at Mugdock Country Park on Saturday 27th February.
Despite the weather conditions prevailing 147 competitors competed in this event.

Senior Cross Country Championships

The Garscube Harriers Club Cross Country Championship was held at Mugdock park on Saturday 13th February 2010 in conjunction with Victoria Park City of Glasgow AC, Maryhill Harriers and Springburn Harriers.
In the senior women's race the first home and the Garscube club champion was Ali Winship. First home for Maryhill Harriers was Caroline Jones.
In the senior men's race first home and Garscube club champion was Ben Melby, Andrew Callen was first home for Springburn, Mark Ashby was club champion for Victoria Park City of Glasgow and Michael McArtney was the Maryhill champion.
A total of 32 runners completed the course.

SATURDAY 6TH FEBRUARY

Scottish Masters Cross Country Championships

Three Garscube runners travelled to Forres to take part in the Scottish National Masters Cross Country Championships on Saturday 6th February. Euan Mackay finished in 33rd place in a time of 37:44 in the Men’s 10,000 metres race while Ali Winship was 9th in 25:03 and Heather McIntosh 32nd in 28:00 in the Women’s 6,400 event.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Nine members of Garscube Harriers competed in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 6th February. Ken Hastie finished in 28th place in a time of 19 minutes 17 seconds, Rob McLennan was 32nd in 19:35, Ross Queen finished in 50th place in 20:27 and young athlete James Stanley finished in 76th place in 22 minutes 2 seconds. Other Garscube times were: Craig Weston – 29:02, Gavin Miln – 29:32, Andrew Bell – 31:58, Mairi Stanley – 34:31 and Elspeth Grant – 35:06.

GADS 2k

Three Garscube Harriers juniors competed in the Glasgow Athletics Development Scheme Invitation 2k Cross Country Development Races at Bellahouston Park on Sunday 31st January. Catriona Graves ran well to finish in 2nd place in a time of 7:17 in the Under 13 Girls race while Iona Robinson was 8th in 7:59 in the same race and Alastair Stanley finished in 5th place in 6:08 in the Under 15 Boys race.

SAL 4k

Three Garscube runners turned out for the Scottish Athletics 4k Cross Country Championships at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow on Sunday 31st January. Joe McKnight finished in 22nd place in a time of 12:33 in the Men’s Race while in the Women’s Race Ali Winship was 19th in 15:12 and Stephani Keane 33rd in 21:22.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

There were five Garscube members in action in the Parkrun on Saturday 30th January. Euan Mackay finished in 13th position in a time of 18:19, Laura Devine was 5th lady to complete the race in 20:43, Chris Kilshaw was 81st in 22:21, Stephen Wilson 91st in 22:48 and young athlete Thomas Wilson 171st in 26:16. 267 runners completed the race.

Scottish Masters Indoor Championships

Garscube man Stevie Cullen finished in 4th place in a time of 2 minutes 48.32 seconds in the 800 metres final at the Scottish Masters Indoor Championships in the Kelvin Hall on Sunday 24th January.

Glasgow Parkrun 5k

Five Garscube Harriers athletes competed in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k on Saturday 23rd January. Young athlete Alastair Stanley had an excellent run and finished in 8th place in a new PB for the race of 18 minutes 10 seconds. Ken Hastie finished in 16th position in time of 19:04, Chris Kilshaw was 66th in 23:06, and young athletes James Stanley and Andrew Bell finished 82nd in 23:37 and 209th in 32:04 respectively.

Garscube man Ken Hastie finished in 8th place in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday 16th January in a time of 21 minutes 33 seconds.

Scottish Athletics Inter District Cross Country Championships

Three members of Garscube Harriers were selected to represent the West of Scotland in the Scottish Athletics Inter District Cross Country Championships which were incorporated into the BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country Run at Holyrood Park on Saturday 9th January. Catriona Graves finished in 4th place in the Under 13 Girls 2,600 metres race in a time 12 minutes 4 seconds helping the West to a gold medal with a total of 38 points, Alistair Stanley finished in 11th place in a time of 10 minutes 26 seconds in the Under 15 Boys race over the same distance and Ali Winship was 43rd in the Senior Women’s 5,800 metres race in a time of 27 minutes 1 second.

Hogmanay Handicap

Nine members of Garscube Harriers braved the wintry conditions to compete in the Hogmanay Handicap Jack Shirley Memorial 4.2 miles road race at Burnbrae, Milngavie on Sunday 3rd January.
Garscube young athlete Catriona Gravies was first to finish and winner of the Jack Shirley Memorial Trophy in a time of 31 minutes 36 seconds off a handicap of 11 minutes. Other Garscube times were Marco Consani – 24:43, Stephen Mulrine – 25:27, David Dickson – 27:18, Athole Smith – 27:45, Maureen MacLeod – 31:40, Carol Martin – 32:39, Theresa Miln – 35:54 and Ann Clanachan – 36:33. The Harriers coaching assistant Sue Graves was timed at 38:36.
